Grace Hospice of Puerto Rico was invited to speak at the public hearings of the Social Welfare and Family Commission to discuss Senate Resolution 1081. It seeks to investigate the abuse and neglect of the elderly in Puerto Rico. As an agency, we presented the positive impact palliative care has on the lives of patients and family members. Our leadership explained that palliative care works in cooperation with the government and attends not only to the patient’s physical needs, but to the person as a whole.
Dr. Ritu Suri, National Medical Director of Ascend Palliative Care and Kevin Leon, Director of Business Development spoke about the importance of establishing regulation, so that in Puerto Rico it becomes a reality and we can provide better services to the elderly of the island.
